I just got word on Friday that I would not be on the European side of Istanbul but the Asian side in a lovely town called Ataşehir! Since I am arriving early to teach Summer camps, most of the contracted teachers are still occupying the European apartments and therefore they must put me up in Istanbul -Asia. I have never been to Asia before and I am so excited! I haven't told many people, especially my family. I will try to get to that before I leave but if not, I can always tell them later, eh?

Do your best to adjust to the idea that you are not in America and you will do quite well. If you come expecting American standards of living, you will be disappointed and frustrated. However an open mind and a positive attitude will take you far. Other private discussions I will email you with. Truthfully, I have been rather cross and a bit much to deal with some due to jet lag and some because I know no Turkish which I find rather frustrating. What is so lovely is that most Turkish people are very friendly and will do their level best to help you and you gotta love a place that still bargins with you on price! If you are ready for adventure...come on over! If you need your creature comforts (a/c everywhere, English speakers mostly, and other things) my advice is stay stateside! TTFN! Donna
